Vodafone adjudica contrato global de IMS à Nokia
Lisboa, 16 de Fevereiro de 2006 – A Nokia acaba de ser
seleccionada pelo Vodafone Group como fornecedor preferencial de
IMS, através de um contrato que visa dar início à instalação, em
todas as empresas afiliadas da Vodafone, da solução IP
Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) da Nokia. As primeiras instalações
deverão ocorrer ao longo de 2006.
Ao abrigo deste contrato, a Nokia torna-se o fornecedor
preferencial da arquitectura de rede IMS da Vodafone, bem como
da tecnologia Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), o que permitirá
à Vodafone experimentar a próxima geração de serviços e dar
início a testes de interoperabilidade. A Nokia instalará
igualmente as suas soluções, compatíveis com OMA, de Gestão de
Presença e Gestão de Listas. O IMS é um elemento essencial da
solução Unified Core Network da Nokia e um facilitador crucial
de métodos de multi-acesso.
“A Vodafone está entusiasmada com as vastíssimas oportunidades
emergentes com o IP Multimédia”, declarou Detlef Schultz,
Director da Global Supply Chain Management da Vodafone. “O IMS
terá um papel estratégico na nossa futura disponibilização de
serviços. Pretendemos testar a próxima geração de serviços
utilizando esta tecnologia e daremos início aos testes de
interoperabilidade com outros operadores tão cedo quanto

A Nokia fornece, ao mercado de telecomunicações, uma solução
end-to-end completa para multimédia baseado em IMS, incluindo a
solução e servidores aplicacionais IP Multimedia Subsystem da
Nokia, que facultam serviços como a Gestão de Presença, os quais
se encontram ligados ao IMS através da interface aberta IMS
Service Control (ISC). A Nokia é líder de vendas de terminais
que suportam IMS/SIP, tendo já disponíveis no mercado vários
equipamentos que integram Video-Sharing e SIP.
Com a sua solução IMS e vasta gama de dispositivos preparados
para suportar multimédia IP, a Nokia assumiu a liderança na
concretização comercial do Multimédia IP. A Nokia tem mais de 70
referências IMS, incluindo 48 referências comerciais para a
solução completa de IMS compatível com Push-to-talk over
Cellular (PoC), bem como 14 referências de IMS Core com
operadores fixos e móveis a nível global. Os lançamentos

O IP Multimedia Subsystem da Nokia permite aos operadores a
instalação de serviços multimédia pessoa-a-pessoa baseados em IP,
através de redes 2G e 3G. Esta solução acrescenta uma nova e
importante capacidade às redes já existentes, ao permitir que os
terminais estabeleçam sessões IP entre si, o que por sua vez
torna possível uma vasta gama de serviços de comunicação
multimédia e de aplicações interactivas, tais como o
Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) e o Video-Sharing. O SIP é a
tecnologia que torna possível os serviços pessoa-a-pessoa

inclui também uma entidade de gestão de lista genérica, a qual
permite aos subscritores usarem as mesmas listas de contacto em
múltiplas aplicações, tais como PoC, Presença e Instant
Messaging.

IMS – A
Plataforma Multimídia
O IMS é uma plataforma de serviços multimídia padronizada pelo
3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Program), órgão responsável
pela padronização da arquitetura de redes móveis UMTS (Universal
Mobile Telecommunication System), baseada no protocolo SIP (Session
Initiation Protocol). Alinhadas às especificações do IMS/3GPP,
as operadoras fixas também universalizaram suas arquiteturas de
redes de próxima geração (NGN) coordenadas pelo ETSI TISPAN.
Esta tecnologia permite às operadoras com operações interligadas
oferecer serviços convergentes para seus usuários finais. Hoje,
mais de 30 operadoras ao redor mundo e, no Brasil. Algumas estão
testando a plataforma IMS da Siemens.
Convergência fixo-móvel está cada vez mais próxima
A Siemens entra com força total no segmento de aplicações para
redes móveis e soluções convergentes. A intenção é atender às
demandas das operadoras já no próximo trimestre para que possam
oferecer conteúdo multimídia e interatividade para seus usuários
finais.
No Centro de Convergência Fixo-Móvel (IMS), inaugurado em
Curitiba no final de 2005, cerca de cem engenheiros trabalham
com exclusividade no desenvolvimento de soluções convergentes
que, em breve, estarão disponíveis para os usuários de telefonia
celular. Com investimentos da ordem de R$ 50 milhões, entre
infra-estrutura e pessoal, o Centro IMS vai permitir à Siemens
aumentar sua participação em 20%, neste ano, em serviços de
valor agregado.
Para intensificar sua atuação neste segmento de mercado, a
Siemens estendeu suas parcerias com institutos tecnológicos para
desenvolvimento de aplicações que rodarem na plataforma IMS (IP
Multimedia Subsystem). Tais aplicações são capazes de unir o
conteúdo tradicional gerado pelo usuário (como voz e textos) ao
conteúdo multimídia (vídeo, dados e VoIP/internet). Um avanço no
modo de se comunicar, pois permitirá maior interatividade entre
duas ou várias pessoas.
Pesquisadores do Centro Avançado de Engenharia de Serviços do
Recife (CAESAR) e do Centro Internacional de Tecnologia de
Software (CITS - PR) trabalham em conjunto com os engenheiros da
Siemens nos projetos de aplicações convergentes, algumas com
lançamento previsto para o próximo trimestre, como suporte de
multimídia, mobile TV e Mobile IP Centrex.
A primeira permite o transporte de vídeo sobre a rede móvel,
possibilitando ao usuário fazer videoconferência de seu celular
(com tecnologia EDGE) com outro usuário, seja móvel ou fixo. A
aplicação de mobile TV (media delivery solutions) vai além do
que existe hoje no mercado e promete maior interatividade para o
usuário. Ele poderá assistir a qualquer programação de TV
on-line, bastando selecionar um canal e comprar o programa
favorito que deseja ver no visor de seu celular – novelas, jogos
de futebol, shows, noticiários, entre outros – transformando seu
celular numa pequena TV de bolso.
Mobile Centrex
Outra promessa para o mercado brasileiro é a solução Mobile
Centrex, utilizada com sucesso por várias operadoras da Europa,
principalmente no aumento da base de assinantes. A solução
permitirá às operadoras móveis oferecer ao segmento corporativo
funcionalidades semelhantes às de PABX convencional. Com uma
enorme vantagem: além da mobilidade, os usuários poderão fazer
videoconferência pelo celular.
Trata-se de uma solução sob medida para as equipes de vendas
externas que necessitam de mobilidade, pois oferece recursos de
vídeo e muita interatividade entre pessoas. De acordo com Wilson
Cardoso, diretor de engenharia de redes da Siemens
Communications e responsável pelo Centro IMS, estas aplicações
já estão muito próximas dos brasileiros, mas para usufruí-las é
preciso que os aparelhos celulares sejam mais robustos e
compatíveis com a tecnologia EDGE. “Prevemos atingir o mercado
de heavy-users, estimado em 8 milhões de usuários potenciais no
Brasil”. A intenção da Siemens, segundo Cardoso, é lançar três
aplicações por trimestre.
O Centro IMS também abriga o desenvolvimento de Media Gateways,
em conjunto com os centros da Alemanha e dos Estados Unidos. O
uso de media gateway, cujo papel na estrutura das redes de
telecom é fazer a mediação entre as redes fixa e móvel, deverá
se intensificar com a expansão das redes de próxima geração (NGN).
Estima-se que o mercado mundial de media gateways será de US$ 5
bilhões em 2010.

Com um investimento de 50 milhões de reais - entre pessoas e
infra-estrutura - a Siemens inaugura em dezembro um Centro de
Convergência Fixo-Móvel.
O espaço será voltado ao desenvolvimento de aplicações sobre a
plataforma IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), que permitem combinar
conteúdo gerado por usuário (texto e voz) com conteúdo
multimídia (vídeo, dados e VoIP) em redes fixas e móveis.
Sediado em Curitiba (PR), o centro contará com a colaboração de
pesquisadores do Centro Avançado de Engenharia do Recife (CEASAR)

Em Vélizy, cidade dos arredores de Paris, na França, a Alcatel fez os
primeiros testes e demonstrações de serviços baseados em IMS (IP Multimedia
Subsystem) sobre redes WiMax.
Esse demonstrativo revela que a solução IMS da
companhia permite utilizar a mesma arquitetura comum independente da
tecnologia de acesso, pelo qual um usuário WiMax poderia comunicar-se com
outro conectado mediante DSL ou 3G/UMTS.
Utilizando uma agenda de direções dinâmicas,
os três participantes da demonstração tiveram acesso a agenda pessoal e
puderam comunicar-se via texto, voz e vídeo. Usando serviços típicos de IMS,
por exemplo, puderam gerir a comunidade de usuários junto com mensagem de
áudio, vídeo e de dados, videotelefonia, push-to-talk e vibração para mostra
a informação.
A solução IMS da Alcatel é composta por um
computador softswitch, um servidor de subscrição do sistema, um servidor de
aplicações SIP e o módulo de acesso na fronteira da rede com capacidade de
gestão de serviços.

Companhias apostam num ambiente padrão para aumentar a oferta da
próxima geração de serviços
As operadoras de telefonia móvel tendem a investir cada vez mais
em tecnologias que possibilitam a convergência entre redes fixas
e móveis, visando a oferta de serviços avançados para os
consumidores. De acordo com análise do The Yankee Group, para
atingir esse objetivo, entretanto, elas necessitam de um padrão
de arquitetura comum. Nesse cenário, o IMS (IP Multimedia
Subsystem) - utilizado especialmente em soluções de push-to-talk
para celular - está despontando como a solução mais promissora.
Segundo o instituto, os principais fornecedores mundiais de
equipamentos já estão adotando o IMS como padrão, graças a suas
características que permitem um ambiente homogêneo de serviços.
O uso comercial do IMS, no entanto, ainda está incompleto. A
previsão é que, nos próximos 12 meses, as prestadoras de
serviços de telecomunicação completem o desenvolvimento de
outras capacidades para esse padrão, por exemplo, com IPv6, o
protocolo internet de próxima geração.
Nos Estados Unidos, Sprint e Verizon já estão utilizando
elementos da plataforma IMS para serviços push-to-talk no
celular. A tendência, aponta o instituto, é que a plataforma se
torne um ambiente padrão de serviços para operadoras celulares e
para serviços convergentes fixo-móvel.
